Hotel Pool

The olympics were held in the metroplex this year, but we stayed at a hotel anyway so Michael wouldn't have to commute for four days. I enjoyed not having to cook, clean or do laundry. The kids loved being able to hang out at the pool. Here is the calm before the storm.

Another fireman family joined us shortly afterwards.

Addison was too scared to get in the pool after the commotion erupted.

She started posing instead of swimming.

If I were that cute, I would pose too!

Firefighter Olympics

Michael competed in the firefighter olympics last week. He played softball one day and shot archery for two days. The kids and I were able to be with him during softball, but archery is not much of a spectator sport. So we enjoyed some lazy days at home while Michael hung out in the heat. Michael was the only pitcher on the team.

He did a great job, but that is not his best position on the field.

He does his best work in the outfield.

He swung the bat very well.

Brock liked watching Daddy play the sport he loves so much!

Addison just tried to stay cool!

Michael won gold, silver and bronze medals in archery.

He improved from last year. Next year we expect a gold medal sweep!

Swimming Lessons

Addison and Brock have been taking swimming lessons since April. They have made a tremendous amount of progress in the pool. Martin, their swim teacher, is outstanding with them. Trying out the high dive
Brock and Martin bouncing the board

It doesn't take much to get Brock to take the plunge!

Addison is another story.....
Still working on Addison.....Brock goes again!
Addison being brave....as long as Martin is in the pool :)
I can't say that I blame her. It is way up there!
Thinking about the board, but it didn't really happen.
Hopefully she will get the courage before long.

The high dive fun only lasted for a few minutes, then it was back to work in the training pool.
This week will be our last two lessons. We are going to take a break and get back into our school routine for a bit. Then we will be back with Martin by October.

My Two Favorite Boys

Michael was able to help coach Brock's t-ball team this year. Brock has acquired his daddy's talent in sports. Needless to say, it was a very proud season for this daddy. I have a feeling we will be able to experience many more proud seasons with the talent this little man has. One of my favorite pictures of all time!

Dance

Addison completed her first year of dance this spring. She did an excellent job and is looking forward to dancing again this fall. Ballet
Tap

Jazz
We are very proud of this little dancer!
Next year she is going to focus on jazz, ballet and maybe even hip hop.
She is good at all of them!

A Roughrider Birthday

This year we began Michael's birthday celebration with a trip to Dr. Pepper Park to watch a Roughrider baseball game. This was our first time to see the Roughriders. Let's just say that this is our new favorite baseball team! The park is very family friendly and the players still believe they are mortals. We still love that big team on the other side of the metroplex, but we can make 3-4 trips to Frisco for the same price it takes for 1 trip to The Ballpark. We will be back very soon! Heaven on earth.......a ballpark and it is named Dr. Pepper!

We have probably paid for this entire park with our DP purchases alone.

The hometown boys

Addison and Brock enjoyed the night. It was very cool with a nice breeze.

We had peanuts, cotton candy and Dr. Pepper, of course!

The ballpark is so cozy. Our family made it on the jumbo tron several times.

We were celebrities for the night! That is what happens when you sit right behind the cameraman ;)

How awesome is it to have a playground at the ballpark?

We took advantage of it before and during the game.

Addison's favorite mascot, Daisy
Brock's favorite, Deuce

It was a wonderful way to begin Michael's birthday weekend. We will continue to celebrate our favorite Daddy today after his golf date with his buddies!

Happy Birthday, Michael!!
