Conversation in the Back Seat

This was the conversation in the back seat of the car on the way home from VBS.
***************************
Addison: Brock, you missed the best part of bible school today.
Brock: What was that?
Addison: We watched a movie about a girl getting baptized in a lake.
The girl had her head dunked in the lake. You know why that is cool...when we get baptized here, we only get to go into a tub like thing.
Brock: What is baptized?
Addison: It is when you ask Jesus into your heart (she said heart with the stress on the "r" the way kids do ;)
Brock: When you do that then you can walk on water.
Addison: No, you can't.
Brock: Yes, you can.
Then the debate starts....I TRY to step in and solve the problem.
Me: Brock, only Jesus can walk on water.
Brock: No, you can after you are baptized.
Me: No, Brock only Jesus can walk on water. We can't walk on water even after we are baptized.
Addison: Actually Mom, Peter can walk on water too. Do you remember that?
Me: Yes, Addison, I do remember that. Thank you for correcting me!

I'm done! My daughter is officially smarter than me!

Hmmmmm

My parents have 5 or 6 hummingbird feeders on their front porch, so they have quiet a few hummingbirds swarming. It is fun to watch the birds fuss with each other. I tried to take a few pictures while I was letting the girls (dogs) out. I wish the pictures would show their color. We will work on that next time.

Michael took the picture below.
He got tired of me missing the shot so he took the camera and this is what he captured on his first attempt.

We only have 3 or 4 hummingbirds at our house. They are not as comfortable around people as those in Oklahoma, so it is harder to take their picture.

The big news at our house includes more babies....NO, NOT ME! We have a new set of baby birds in the nest over our back porch. Although they are messy, it is fun to watch the parents take care of them.

Oklahoma & Horses

The kids are home from Oklahoma and they are exhausted. No rest for the weary...today we started VBS at our church and then we have swimming lessons this afternoon. At this moment, they are resting on the couch before we hit the water.
Here are a few pictures of the kids with the horses. Our last night in OK.
Brock wants to live in Oklahoma so that he can be close to the horses. He tracked through grass up to his waist to feed the horses his apples from McDonalds.

My other babies

Yesterday, Michael and I took the kids and met my mother in Sherman so they could go to VBS in Oklahoma. They were looking forward to being in the country and riding the horses.
****************************************************************
Michael and I spent some time in Sherman shopping at Sam's, Gander Mountain, & Tractor Supply. I know...those are a girls favorite stores. Last night we had a nice adult meal at Texas Roadhouse. It was Michael's late father's day meal. It was delicious!
*****************************************************************
This morning, Michael hung curtains for me in our bathroom and both of the kids rooms. Then he headed to town to mow. I took my other babies to the beauty shop and came home to a completely empty house. It felt so weird. Since storms were moving in, I let our big baby in the house so I didn't have to be all alone. I can't remember when I was without kids, husband, & dogs. All is well, though, as I type Allie Belle is curled up in my lap. She is taking full advantage of the kids being gone.
******************************************************************
I took advantage of the kids absence, as well, and cleaned out their closets and dressers. I now have 5 trashbags of clothes to pass on to the next child. The bathrooms are my next project. I have a new scrub brush ready to go.
******************************************************************
Tomorrow Michael is planning on playing golf with the boys, if the weather permits. I am going to have lunch with my friends in Rockwall and possibly do a little shopping.
********************************************************************
Our plans for tonight include a big bag of popcorn, a Dr. Pepper, and a big t.v.
Go Celtics!!
I do not like the Lakers...

She can't believe that I leave her at the groomers.

Tennis Tourney

Addison ended tennis camp with a tournament. She won one match and lost two. She was given a medal for participation, but she thinks it is for third place.
Sister's biggest fan
Her first match with her friend, Rebecca

Forget the handshake....we give hugs...well Rebecca does
Match Three....She won this match!

Tennis camp was fun, but I am glad that we can relax and sleep as long as we want!

Slip & Slide

While Addison spent the morning at tennis camp, Brock and I went shopping. We bought a slip & slide at Target and the kids couldn't wait to get it out of the box. It didn't take long for Brock to get the slide mastered, but it took Addison a bit longer. She liked sliding on her knees more than her belly.

The skies were rumbling while the kids were playing in the water, so they didn't get to stay out long. They rode their bikes for a few minutes to dry off.

It wasn't long before the Texas sky sent us in the house.
I love storms!
Michael has worked for the past two days. We are ready for him to come home. One more shift and he will be on vacation for a while.

Tennis Camp

Addison went to tennis camp this morning. She had a great time and even met a new friend. Here are a few pictures.... Posing before we left for camp

Brock was not happy about getting out of bed for his sister during our summer vacation.
Addison enjoyed picking up the balls for the other kids. I was beginning to think I paid for the camp to have a ball girl. But then she got warmed up.
Look at that form

At the end of camp, the coach let them hit water balloons to cool off.

One of the best....

Michael and I went out on Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. Sallee and Blaine kept the kids and we headed to Addison to eat at the Melting Pot. My best friend from high school introduced me to this restaurant and I wanted Michael to see how great it is.
We began our meal with a cheddar cheese fondue, in which we dipped breads, veggies & apples. Then we had our dinner salads. Our main course was a mix of fabulous meat, including shrimp, lobster, New York strip, chicken, pork, etc. I think it was a few bites of every meat I have ever heard of. I can't remember the name of the fondue broth we cooked it in, but it was delicious. We also enjoyed red potatoes, squash, mushrooms and broccoli. Then came my favorite part....dessert. We had the flaming turtle chocolate fondue. They sat it on fire and then we dipped cheesecake, pound cake, strawberries, bananas, rice crispies and brownies.
Dinner was outstanding, but being alone with Michael was the best part. It was so nice to have an adult conversation. It was one of the best nights we have had in a very long time!
A very special thank you to Sallee and Blaine. You are always there when we need you....my favorite Texas parents!

Happy Anniversary to Us

Today is our ninth anniversary. This afternoon the front office called and told me I had a delivery. This is what I had..... The roses are so beautiful. My only problem was getting them home. Today in the great state of Texas, we are having 40 mph winds. The arrangement may have been messed up a bit getting them to the car, but they are still beautiful. Thank you, Michael!

Brock has spent the week at Memaw's. Every day he goes to sleep on the way home. It is 5:30 and this is what he is doing. It is going to be a late night. Oh well, they don't have to get up for school tomorrow. YEAH!

I still have one more day :(((((

Addison's Graduation

Addison graduated from kindergarten this past Tuesday. She also received an award for perfect attendance & the female music award. We are so proud of her!
