Brock's Birthday Party

Last Friday was Brock's 5th birthday. He went to school that morning so that he could share cupcakes and juice with his friends. Michael picked him up at lunch and brought him to school. We had his "special birthday lunch" in my classroom. After we got home from school, we gave him a couple of presents since it was his actual birthday. The pictures are all out of order. Brock was a bit confused when he opened his helmet. He thought he could use it to ride our neighbors four-wheeler. We walked outside for him to ask Hunter for a ride when he saw one in our yard. Michael had to explain to him that the four-wheeler was his. He was thrilled when he put all the pieces together.

Daddy explaining the whole situation.

Aunt Mittye's cake.....yum!

The birthday party was a huge success despite my melt down on Thursday night. We had planned the entire party to be held outside. Why not....it had been beautiful in Texas all week. As I watched the news on Thursday night, I knew that was not going to be possible. We had to move the entire party into the house & garage (with a heater). I made a mad dash to Michael's craft store on Friday afternoon to find crafts for 20 kids. I found some and the kids enjoyed doing them.

It was packed on Saturday in the house, but we made it work. All of the kids had a blast and they were ALL very well behaved. Brock has such awesome friends.

April came down from OK for the party. When the kids found out she was coming, they were so excited. When I told Brock her boyfriend was coming he said, "BOOOOO!" I love that kid! He is so funny :)

One party down one to go.....We will have several little girls at a slumber party next Friday night.....our first slumber party!

Toby

Toby is our outside dog. I feel sorry for him during the winter months so I let him in the house all the time. I guess he would be classified as an inside dog right now. Brock has decided that he needs a pet and he thought that he would just take one over instead of adding another one to the bunch. So Toby is now Brock's dog. He is such a good dog. He lets the kids do whatever they want to him and he just lays there. This is what we were doing one morning last week when we should have been getting ready for school.

Today I was rearranging Addison's room when I looked out her window. I saw Brock and Addison on Michael's big mower. Michael was helping them drive it, but he was on the ground. By the time I got around to the backyard, Michael had let them loose. It was funny, but all I could think about was the amount we paid for that mower. I just knew Brock was going to drive it into the house. Surprisingly enough, he drove it very well. Addison just sat in the seat screaming every time he got close to something :)

FYI: The blades were not going....they were just driving.

I finally recovered from strep. I missed our first day back at school, so when I did get there I hit the ground running. We have had all of our mid-year testing. All of my EC friends know these dreaded words....TPRI, DRA, MOY math assessment & report cards. Hopefully I will get finished this week and we can get back to normal.

Next week is Brock's 5th birthday. We are busy preparing for the big party. Birthday pictures will be posted soon.....

Strep

I have strep. My throat starting hurting Friday afternoon and by that night, I could hardly swallow. My swallowing seemed a bit better yesterday, but it got worse during the night. I was (am) miserable! Needless to say, I won't be making it back to work tomorrow. I thank God for my fabulous husband who has waited on me hand and foot. He even took off work today so that he could drive me to the doctor. He is such a great man. Please pray that these meds kick in soon! I'm going back to bed.....

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from our house to yours!
We celebrated the new year with a few friends and their kids. We all had a good time. I can't remember the last time Michael and I actually stayed up until midnight!?! It was fun for all. This morning, Michael went to the fire station and the kids and I went over to Aunt Sallee's for a new years breakfast with Blaine, Becky & Danny. The food was delicious and the company was outstanding. We are still in our pj's in the afternoon hours. I think we will probably stay that way the rest of the day. My midnight kiss was stolen this year.
